Inner club Autumn 26

Another great season of Inner club at Khandallah with 32 players including 4 first timers to the competition!

A new shortened format was trialed and very successful, with 5 weeks in total, 3 round robin weeks, then semi final week, and Finals week. With a squash calendar in the Wellington region  getting busier and busier, this was welcomed by those who play Inter club and also The Khandallah open the following week!

After 3 close weeks, top played bottom and the second and third teams battled it out. This pitched a final week with Pango vs Kikorangi for the title, and what a final it was.

With a total of 21 points on offer, the winners required 11 or more. 2 games completed in the finals and Pango streaked to a 6-0 lead, but the fighting spirit of Kikorangi it was drawn back to 9-9 with 1 match to play! New comer Taru for Kikorangi vs old hand Alan for Pango. Alan takes the first, Taru takes the second - 10 a piece. Back and forth it went but Pango claimed victory in the last game. A classic!!

Whero and Kakariki battled closely for 3rd place, with Kakariki taking the win.

With a ramped up awards ceremony, this put the icing on the cake of a very enjoyable tournament.

Huge thanks to the team captains Andrew, Tracy, Dan and Adam. Also thanks to the organisers Tracy, Andrew, Heather and Dave.

We shall see you all again in spring!!!
