KTSC Junior Interclub

Junior interclub tennis is a fantastic opportunity for young players to develop their skills, build confidence and experience the excitement of representing Khandallah in team competition. We field teams across a range of grades each season, catering for players of all abilities — from those playing their first competitive matches through to more experienced juniors.

We're also incredibly grateful to New World Khandallah, whose generous sponsorship helps us provide a fantastic interclub experience for our junior players.

With regular matches against clubs from across the Wellington region, junior interclub is a great way to improve your game, make new friends and be part of a fun, supportive team environment.

Registrations for the 2026 pre-Christmas junior interclub season are now open. Please complete the registration form below by 31 August 2026.

Register for KTSC Junior Tennis Interclub

Junior interclub is a fantastic way to improve your match play, make new friends and represent Khandallah Tennis & Squash Club. We hope you'll join us for another great season!

What do I need to do?

To play junior interclub you must:

Hold a current KTSC membership before the season starts on Sunday 18 October 2026. Not yet a member? Join Now.
Complete this registration form by 31 August 2026.
Pay the $35 interclub fee by 31 August 2026.
Be able to rally and serve (Novice/Hot Shots grades may use a "bounce and hit" serve).
Comply with the Junior Interclub Rules and the KTSC Guidelines for Tennis players.
Wear a KTSC playing top when representing the club. You can purchase a Nike KTSC playing top or wear one of our club Code Sports tops, generously sponsored by Khandallah New World. Club tops will be distributed before the season begins (18 October 2026).

If your child is already affiliated through another Tennis Central & Coast club, please contact us about becoming a Junior Associate Member.

When do I play?

A, B, C, D Grades and Boys 10U & 12U Hot Shots: Sunday mornings (8.30am or 10.30am starts)

Match Format

Each tie consists of 4 singles and 2 doubles matches.

Typically, four players compete in each tie, with every player playing one singles and one doubles match. Teams may have up to six players rotating during the season, although we aim to keep team line-ups as consistent as possible.

C Grade and below: One set to 7 games (tiebreak at 6-all).
B Grade and above: Two short sets to 4 games (win by two, tiebreak at 4-all). If one set each is won, a super tiebreak to 10 decides the match.

Teams

Players must be 17 years or younger on 1 October 2026.
Teams are ideally made up of five players, allowing for one reserve.
Depending on registrations, teams of four or six may be formed.
Occasionally, we may combine with another club to create a full team.

Cost

The $35 interclub fee covers Tennis Capital-Coast team registration fees.

The club has applied for grant funding to help cover the cost of team tennis balls. If unsuccessful, teams may be asked to contribute towards the cost. We'll confirm arrangements once the funding outcome is known.

Please note the interclub fee is separate from your KTSC membership.

Team management

Would you be able to assist by taking on the role of team manager? This involves coordinating team communications for training and games, liaising with opposing managers if rescheduling is needed, and recording match results.

Parent Involvement

Khandallah Tennis & Squash Club is a community club, and our junior programme relies on the support of parent volunteers to help it run successfully. Each Friday from 4–5pm, we hold Community Play for our younger players, followed by Junior Club Night from 5–6:30pm, which is a great opportunity for junior interclub players to get extra practice before their weekend matches.

As part of registering for junior interclub, parents are expected to assist with one Friday Community Play session per season. This includes picking up pizzas from our sponsor Hell Pizza around 4.45pm, serving pizza, and helping with bar duty.

To assist with bar duty, volunteers must be Club members. If you're not already a member, becoming a non-playing member is easy and comes with great benefits—including access to the Club, use of the lounge, and enjoyment of our fully licensed bar (at rates that are well below typical bar prices). It’s a great way to be part of the Club community—even if you're not picking up a racquet!
