As we look back on 2025, there’s plenty to appreciate in what our Khandallah Tennis & Squash Club community has accomplished this year. This year has been one of connection, growth, and countless moments that remind us why our Club is such a special place.
From championship wins to community play magic, lounge makeovers to national recognition, 2025 has been a year where the heart of KTSC shone brightly. Here’s a look back at just some of the highlights.
🥇 KTSC Squash: A Breakthrough Year for the Ages
What a milestone year for KTSC squash!
Our Women’s C-Grade SuperChamps team not only won Wellington SuperChamps but went on to compete at Nationals in Dunedin — the first Khandallah squash team to do so in many years. The determination, teamwork, and spirit lifted the profile of squash at our Club and inspired players of all ages.

Squash InnerClub enjoyed near record participation this spring, with more than 40 players involved, new friendships formed, and some of the closest competition we’ve seen in years.
We were also incredibly proud to be recognised on the wider stage at the 2025 Wellington Squash Awards, bringing home several honours that reflect how well squash at KTSC is doing:
Most Improved Junior Female – Sara Howard and Most Improved Junior Male - William Hu celebrating dedication, growth, and a standout year on court.
People's Choice Award - Alisa Zhang voted by the squash community for her growth, commitment, and the enthusiasm that has made her a standout presence this season!
Interclub trophy
James Thompson took home Development Coach of the Year — a hugely well-deserved award for his commitment and impact on player development!

KTSC Tennis: A Year of Depth, Development & Success
Tennis at KTSC has continued to build steadily this year, with a strong mix of junior and senior teams representing the Club. Players of all ages have shown great commitment, good spirit, and plenty of club pride throughout the season.
We were incredibly proud of the KTSC juniors who represented the Tennis Central region at the National Teams Event and also those who qualified for the Tennis New Zealand National Championships — a fantastic achievement and a great experience for these young players!

Our Premier Men’s team delivered a fantastic campaign, finishing with a strong third place — a huge achievement in such a competitive grade!

It’s been great to see strong participation across both our junior and senior interclub teams, with standout results. Our juniors continue to shine, thanks in large part to the excellent work of Evolve Tennis Coaching. A fantastic first half of the season — and plenty to look forward to in the new year!

Community Play Fridays and Junior Club Nights continued to thrive — thanks to amazing parents, Evolve Tennis Coaching, and the energy of our young players!
And of course, KTSC winning Tennis NZ’s 2025 Digital Engagement Award! A national honour that reflects the stories you share, the photos you send in, and the passion you show for our Club.

🏠 KTSC Club Improvements: Investing in Our Future
2025 was also a year of major progress in strengthening and modernising our facilities.
Stage 1 of the lounge refurbishment was completed with new paint and acoustic panels — a huge lift to our clubhouse atmosphere.

We managed to secure 20k from One Foundation for the resurfacing of our lower tennis courts - we are excited to start this project in January 2026!
We were also pleased to complete the recarpeting of the squash area, giving the space a fresh, modern lift.
The introduction of daytime Pay-to-Play helped open our courts to the wider community. Cornhole and other lounge additions made the Club even more of a social hub for families.
Every improvement made this year reflects the collective commitment of our volunteers, funders, sponsors, and members who want KTSC to thrive for generations to come.
KTSC Community at the Heart of Everything
From Quiz Night to fundraisers, the Khandallah Open and junior tennis tournaments to casual club evenings, this year was filled with moments that captured the magic of KTSC.
Local businesses continued to sponsor the Club generously - huge thanks to Khandallah New World, Arbitrage Wealth Management, Lowe & Co Realty (Julieanne Norman and Tracy Logan), Lowe & Co Realty (Steve, Elise and Mitch), A-Z Flooring, Eliott Electrical, Hell Pizza, Code Sports, Dulux NZ, whose support helps keep our Club strong.
We also loved bringing everyone together for our whole-of-club prize giving earlier in the year, and we look forward to celebrating our players and people again when we do it all over in April.
A real highlight this year was welcoming over 60 new members in September through our Love Tennis discount campaign, bringing fresh faces and a nice boost of energy across the Club.
Volunteer energy was extraordinary this year. From our Management and Maintenance Committee members, who give their precious time each month to help make the Club a better place. Huge thanks to Rob, Dave, Aidan, Tracy, Dean, Carolyn, Nick and Thomas.
To our bar managers, Heath McClean and Dave Beaumont, who keep the bar stocked, our licence in good shape, and the place humming for the many events hosted in our lounge and bar — thank you both, your efforts make a real difference.
And to our team managers and captains, our parents and supporters, the families who support Community Play, the volunteers who help run Club Days, and everyone who turned up for working bees — our Club truly runs because of you!
✨ Looking Ahead With Gratitude and Excitement
2025 has been a remarkable year — full of progress, pride, and people coming together. It reminded us what community sport is all about: connection, belonging, and joy.
As we look toward 2026, we do so with enormous gratitude. Thank you to every player, parent, volunteer, coach, sponsor, funder, team manager, committee member, and supporter who contributed to an unforgettable year at KTSC. Here’s to even more magic in 2026.
From all of us at KTSC — thank you for being part of this special Club. 🏆
